Right after we moved to Hawaii we got to enjoy a Willie Nelson concert north of us in Waimea on the famous Parker Ranch. He had a band from Maui that played with him and he put a major blues and jazz twist on his old favorites. Willie performed at no charge to raise money for a larger than life bronze statue in Waimea in honor of Ikua Purdy, the first Hawaiian paniolo (cowboy) to enter and win the calf roping at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming back in the 40's.
